Yes — it drops you at your Samarkand hotel on Day 2 afternoon, so it works as your transfer from Bukhara to Samarkand as well as a desert experience.
What are the yurts like?
Traditional felt yurts with proper beds and bedding. The yurt camp has modern, clean shared toilets and showers. Desert nights can be cool even after warm days, so bring warm layers.
Is there a guide?
This is a transport-only tour: your driver handles logistics and the camp hosts look after meals and activities. A licensed city guide can be arranged separately on request.
When is the best time to go?
Spring (April–June) and autumn (September–November) are most comfortable. Summer days are hot but nights are clear; winter is cold but possible with warm clothing.
Which yurt camp in Uzbekistan is best?
For most travellers on the Samarkand–Bukhara route, the Aydarkul Lake camps in the Kyzylkum Desert near Nurata are the practical winner: you get the lake, the dunes, a camel ride and dark skies in one place, and the camp sits between the two cities, so the night replaces a transfer instead of adding a detour. The desert camps near Bukhara are simpler and usually have no lake; the Ayaz-Kala camps near Khiva are far to the west and only make sense on a Khiva itinerary.
Where is the Aydarkul yurt camp and how do I get there?
The camp is on the shore of Aydarkul Lake in the Kyzylkum Desert, reached via the Silk Road town of Nurata, roughly midway between Samarkand and Bukhara. This tour includes the private transport: pickup at your hotel in Samarkand or Bukhara, the desert drive with stops, the night at the camp, and drop-off at your hotel in the other city (or back in Samarkand on the round trip) the next afternoon.
What is a night at the yurt camp actually like?
You arrive in the afternoon and settle into a felt yurt with proper beds and bedding. Late afternoon is the camel ride across the dunes; dinner is cooked by the local hosts around the campfire, usually plov or a barbecue, often with traditional music. After dark the sky is the main event — with almost no light pollution the stars are remarkably bright on clear nights. Breakfast at the camp is bread, eggs, jam, fruit and tea before the drive on.
Is one night in a desert yurt camp worth it?
Yes for most people: guests regularly call the starry night the highlight of their whole Uzbekistan trip, and because the camp lies on the Samarkand–Bukhara road you lose no time from your itinerary. It is a simple, shared-facility stay, not a luxury one — if you need hotel comfort or are travelling with very young children, think carefully before booking.
Do the yurts have electricity?
The camp has limited evening electricity (solar / generator) for lighting. Charging points can be limited, so bring a power bank for phones and cameras.
Are the toilets and showers modern?
Yes. The yurt camp has modern, clean shared toilet and shower facilities — a comfortable step up from a basic desert camp.
Can I book a private yurt?
Yes — your tour is private, so your yurt is yours. Private tours include your own yurt by default at no extra cost.
Is the camel ride included?
Yes, the sunset camel ride is included and lasts about 15 minutes. It is optional — first-time riders are welcome, or you can skip it and relax at the camp.
Is this suitable for children?
Yes, families are welcome. Children enjoy the campfire and the camels, the camel ride is optional, and bedding is provided. Bring warm layers for little ones as desert nights can get cool.
How cold is it at night?
Desert nights can be cool, even after hot summer days. The yurts have bedding and felt walls that hold warmth, but you should bring warm layers.
Can vegetarian meals be arranged?
Yes. Vegetarian and most dietary requirements can be arranged with advance notice — just tell us when you book.
Can I swim in Aydarkul Lake?
Yes, in the warm months (roughly May to September) the lake is pleasant for a swim. Bring swimwear; in cooler months it is better for photos and shoreline walks.
Is this tour available in winter?
